Pontypool Golf Day

Written on 07/20/2023

On a Wednesday afternoon in mid July the wind blew, the rain fell and golfers headed to Pontypool GC to celebrate 120 years since its inception.

Great Days Golf were proud to run the day for Pontypool and were determined to pull out all the stops on this very special day.

Pontypool GC sits in the eastern valleys of south wales and has incredible views out over the Severn estuary and Bristol channel.

The Golf club is a fundamental part of the community and has many competitions and open days running throughout the year which you can find by following the link below

Once again our premium partners were out in force supporting Great Days Golf as always.

Their support is vital to us putting on the events we do to the standard we do, so why not get involved just contact Sean Holley at sean@greatdaysgolf.com and become part of our ever growing team.

With a packed field of 26 teams it was a very busy day for everyone, especially GD Scoring who are one of Great Days Golf partner companies and provide us with our hand held devices so there are no scorecards at our events. This has been extremely popular with all our clients as it helps make the day run more smoothly.

There were many prizes on offer which included 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team prizes. A best individual Gross and Nett, Nearest the pin, longest drive, beat the pro, nearest the booze box and beat the pirate!

For those unfamiliar with Beat the Pirate challenge, this is where the competitors take on European Disabled Player and Great Days Golf Director Mike Jones on a par three. It's always good fun and Mike is incredibly hard to beat!

With a full prize table awaiting the return of the golfers they all headed out to test their skills and hopefully return some good scores.

With everyone safely back in the clubhouse, the food was served by the fantastic catering team at Pontypool GC and everyone sat back and enjoyed the entertainment provided in the form of a Q&A with Welsh dual code legend Jonathan (Jiffy) Davies and hosted by Great Days Golf Director Sean Holley

Jiffy spoke about his many visits to Pontypool Park as a young Neath player and how intimidating it was but also how good the hospitality was after the game.

This was exactly what everyone received on their visit that day to Pontypool GC , great hospitality.
