Ifan Phillips Charity Golf Day

Written on 07/10/2023

July 7th 2023 will be a date long remembered by Cardigan GC and its members, as Great Days Golf hosted the first Ifan Phillips Charity Golf Day at their prestigious Club.

Ifan unfortunately lost his  leg after a traumatic motorcycle accident just as he was on the verge of making a debut for Wales and had an established rugby career with the Ospreys regional side.

Great Days Golf felt it was important to support Ifan during this difficult time and the best way to do this was to raise funds to help in Ifans rehabilitation.

The sun certainly shone on a full showing of 26 teams that had an absolute ball playing this gem of a course situated on the rugged West Wales coastline.

The hospitality of Cardigan GC was second to none with incredible food and facilities laid on for everyone.

Then there was the small matter of the tournament itself. With 30-40mph winds buffeting the flags and golfers! It was an extreme test but all of the competitors embraced the challenge and met it head on.

The scores were very impressive given the extreme conditions. To see the full table of results of Team and individual winners, click here.

These events would not be possible without the support of our Sponsors and premium partners. Our headline sponsor of this event was R.Lewis and Co. and on behalf of everyone involved in the day we would like to pass on our thanks for their generosity and support.

The post golf entertainment kicked off with the irrepressible Sean Holley and a well supported silent auction and live auction which raised a great deal of money for Ifan.

Sean then hosted an amazing Q&A with Jonathon (Jiffy) Davies alongside many ex Neath and Ospreys players including Kevin Phillips and Paul Thorburn.

Everyone had a Great Days Golf and the evening drew to a close with a heartfelt thanks from Ifans Family for the overwhelming support and how much they were looking forward to next years event.
