The 2022 GDG season of events got off to a cracking start with the Six Nations Special event held at St Mellons Golf Club, Cardiff on March 18th.
22 teams congregated at a sun baked course for a day of great golf, fun and golf networking. Many of our regular clients were in attendance including Premium Partners Cornerstone Finance Group and Dyfed Telecom but there were some new faces too including teams from Escape Records, associated with the ‘In It Together’ Festival in Margam in June whose team comprised of well known footballing stars Danny Gabbidon, Joe Ledley and Scott Young.
The day was brilliantly captured by Riley Sports Photography and Media Partners Buffoon Film and Media, whose drone footage has really shown up the St Mellons course beautifully.
This was the first event where we saw the new partnership with Competition Golf scoring system add real value to a Great Days Golf Event and also the emergence of a new partnership with ND John Wine Merchants who supplied all the golfers tables with bottles for some after golf refreshment.
Before the prize giving Director Sean Holley held an entertaining Question and Answer session with former Wales and Lions rugby union greats Ryan Jones and Richard Hibbard ahead of the Wales v Italy Six Nations match to be held the next day.
Golfers posted some great scores on the day with the weather helping and the course in great condition. There were also some fun on-course activities with Beat The Pro – LPGA Professional Hannah Bowen and a Beat The Pirate Competition on the 14th hole with our very own Director, disabled golfer Mike “Captain Pirate” Jones.
It all proved to be a huge success and a Great Days Golf, kicking off a great season of events with the next one being the Masters Finale at Marriott St Pierre on April 10th/11th 2022.
